Humans are adults, or animals is one who has grown in all its potential. In the realm of human beings, adult is a reference to legal and social concepts. As opposed to a "non-adult" or "minor" legally adult has attained the age of majority, and therefore is considered autonomous, self-sufficient and dependable. Also known as "majors", they can also be thought as having reached the age of majority. The average age at which you can attain the legal age of adulthood is 18 but the definition can vary based on laws, countries as well as the stage of psychological development.

When a human reaches full physical and intellectual maturity, this is called adulthood. The term "adulthood" is generally thought of as beginning at the age of 20 or 21.
